International is a Federation of NGOs in 15 countries in Europe, working with the issues of democracy, human rights and the fight against all forms of discrimination and racism. The Federation is also actively involved in intercultural dialogue and living together, youth engagement and citizenship.
The organization has Participatory Status with the Council of Europe, has Operational relations with UNESCO and has Consultative Status with UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
COJEP International is not only committed to an inclusive Europe but shows its appreciation to the services of those who are involved in the similar work through its yearly Award Ceremony. Through this event, COJEP recognizes the personalities or actions that have significant value and which are related to its own areas of activity.
COJEP International has always believed that the personalities with strong character, vision and who are taking some risks in their works to shake the habit for advancing the great causes of our universal values are the defenders of our freedoms and our fundamental rights. These personalities have stopped wars and have gathered peoples. They created institutions guaranteeing security and peace.
Since 2007, we have honoured the prominent personalities from politics, arts, sports, culture, and civil society. Two years ago, the Special Prize was awarded to Ms. Micheline Calmy-Rey, Foreign Minister of Switzerland. Previous award winners include, Joseph Daul, Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, Emine Bozkurt, Abdal Malik, Mevlut Erdinç, Mireille Fanon Mendes France, Doudou Diene, Gabriella Battaini, Ambassador Ömür Orhun, Bashy Quraishy, Lilian Thuram, Malika Benarab-Attou, Dr.Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Jean-Louis Gagnaire, Cyril Ritchie and Alima Boumediene for their courage and their exemplary work.
